The first teaser trailer for the upcoming horror film The Nun was dropped by Warner Bros. and Time Warner, and we’re afraid! The Nun is the continuation of the Conjuring Universe, which is reported to be still the only successfully post-MCU cinematic universe of horror film we have had in the last decade so far.
As the teaser trailer reveals this film’s focal point will be the “demon Nun” that has haunted audiences since the inception of The Conjuring 2, as The Nun journeys to the Romanian abbey to tell the “darkest chapter” from the horror series.
The film’s synopsis also reveals that, “When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret”.
This film is reported to be the fifth film in The Conjuring universe series, following the 2013 original (one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Greatest Horror Movies of the 21st Century), later with its 2016 sequel and a pair of spin-off films about a haunted doll, 2014’s Annabelle and 2017’s Annabelle: Creation respectively. The Conjuring 3 and a third Annabelle movie are also in the works.
The Nun is slated to hit theaters on September 7th, staring Demian Bichir and Taissa Farmiga and is directed by Corin Hardy, along with Conjuring director James Wan on board as producer.
