2 suicide blasts rip through mosque in K-P’s Hangu

Two suicide blasts ripped through a mosque in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu on Friday.

At least 4 people were killed and 12 injured injured while offering Friday prayers in two blasts that ware carried out simultaniously.

As reported, the blast was carried within the parameters of Police Station Doaba during the Friday sermon.

According to Hangu District Police Officer Nisar Ahmed, “The first one exploded at the gate of the police station and the second blew himself up inside the mosque.”

The police official added that the two attackers arrived in a private vehicle and were engaged by police personnel on guard duty.

DPO Nisar Ahmed said 30-40 people were under the rubble and an operation was underway to rescue them.

Rescue 1122 officials said six of those with serious injuries were shifted to nearby hospitals.

Authorities called for heavy machinery to aid in rescue efforts as the force exerted by the explosion caused the roof of the mosque to collapse.

KP caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan sought a report on the incident and instructed authorities to expedite the rescue operation.
