Israeli troops storm Al Shifa hospital in Gaza; Massacre of Palestinian civilians continues

The hospital is sheltering thousands of sick, displaced Gazans, and the move could intensify international criticism of Israel.

Israeli troops stormed Al Shifa hospital on Tuesday, the 40th day of its offensive in the Gaza Strip amid continuous blockade and bombardment.

Israel has launched a “targeted operation” in Gaza’s biggest hospital, accusing Hamas of using it as a command centre.

Al-Shifa Hospital is sheltering thousands of sick, displaced Gazans, and the move could intensify international criticism of Israel.

According to the United Nations estimates at least 2,300 patients, staff, and displaced civilians are inside the facility, trapped by days of fierce fighting and aerial bombardments.

Hundreds of injured people including babies, nurses and refugees await an Israeli massacre, while the world and flag bearers of democracy are watching the genocide of Palestine people being carried out.

The Associated Press and BBC report that Israeli tanks have entered the hospital compound.

Mohammed Zaqout, the director of hospitals in Gaza, told the AP that Israeli tanks have entered the medical compound at Al-Shifa.

“The forces stormed the buildings. The patients, including children, are terrified. They are screaming. It’s a very terrifying situation … we can do nothing for the patients but pray.”

Horrific footages showing Israel’s forces attacking Al-Shifa Hospital are doing rounds on social media.

In a statement posted on social media, the Israel Defense Forces said it had launched “a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital.”

It remained unclear how many troops were involved in the assault or what their immediate objective was. Israeli commanders say that Hamas fighters have built an underground operational hub and tunnels under the hospital.

Israel has accused Hamas, the armed group that controls Gaza, of using patients, doctors and hospital workers as human shields for command centres and safe houses. While Hamas and hospital officials deny the accusations.

On the other hand, Workers at Al-Shifa buried dozens of bodies in the complex because the bodies had started to decompose and posed a health hazard, the medical authorities in Gaza stated.
