FIA launches an investigation into the loan app blackmailing case

FIA has launched an investigation into the loan app blackmailing case, it emerges on Thursday.

As reported, DG FIA has ordered strict action against those harassing citizens in the name of online loans.

The FIA Rawalpindi team is reported to have visited the residence of 42-year-old Muhammad Masood – who committed suicide after being blackmailed by an online loan app.

In a statement, the agency’s spokesperson said the case will be investigated from every aspect, vowing the suspects will be brought to justice.

There has been significant progress in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding online loan apps in which the DG FIA has sought a progress report from the Cybercrime Wing.

DG FIA has ordered the immediate arrest of the elements involved in the incident and said that all resources should be used to arrest the accused, and strict action should be taken against those who harass citizens in the name of debt.

The spokesperson of FIA said that the Cybercrime Circle Rawalpindi has started an investigation into the calls received by the victims and the records of the calls made by the accused are being obtained.


According to the spokesman, the cybercrime Rawalpindi team visited the house of the victim’s family yesterday, after which FIA conducted 2 raids in the G8 area of Islamabad, in which several laptops and computers were seized.

The development comes days after a resident of Rawalpindi committed suicide over a debt owed to online loan sharks.

The victim’s wife told that the loan was taken through an Easy Loan app, which reached up to Rs100,000 after a few days with interest.
