Cristiano Ronaldo gets a hero’s welcome in Iran!

Hundreds of football fans were gathered to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo in Tehran as the Portugal football player arrived in the Iranian capital with the Al Nassr team ahead of the AFC Champions League match against Persepolis FC.

The Portugal football star arrived in the Iranian capital on Monday with the Al Nassr squad ahead of the AFC Champions League match against Persepolis FC.

Hundreds of fans, many sporting in Al Nassr jerseys, were gathered to shout Ronaldo’s name and cheer him on the moment the team bus left the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran.

The Tehran municipality decorated the city with banners welcoming Ronaldo and his teammates, displaying the messages in Farsi, English, and Arabic.

This will probably be the only time Ronaldo will ever play an official football match in Iran.

However, tens of thousands of football fans have been left disappointed that they will not get to watch the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in action at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo made a young Iranian fan’s day when they met in a Tehran hotel room, a day after the boy was televised in tears believing he’d missed his chance to see the football goat.
